The Last One
I could not have asked for a better way to end my year as an LC. Beta Zeta welcomed me back with open arms and even spoken word.
Beta Zeta even got the big guy at the White House to welcome me back to Iowa City. On Wednesday, two chapter women and I strolled down to the Field House to meet the President. It's not every visit or everyday that you can say that.
The visit was packed with celebrity guests, but the greatest one was Allison Bernard. On our last night of our last visit we reunited to celebrate a wonderful year. We were accompanied by three wonderful Delta Chi consultants.
I knew my last visit would be special but honestly I had no idea what was about to happen. On the second to last night, a chapter member I got to know well came walking into the house with a bag of things she had just bought from a pop-up consignment shop. She came into the parlor where I had set up my workspace and said look what I just found... it was a Kappa badge. She said she just bought it for $5.00. I looked at the badge and flipped it over to read the back. It read, "Betty..." "Omega" "1948". I asked the member if she wanted to keep it and she said of course or find it's owner. So that's what we did. We found Betty.
Being able to reunite a member with this precious piece of metal has been the most rewarding experience. Thank you Beta Zeta for giving me a memory I will cherish forever.
